Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

Account Holder Information

When an Account Holder creates or manages a bSpell account, we may collect:

• Name.
• Email address.
• Password, which is not stored in plain text.
• Account and subscription information.
• Organization name, if provided.
• Communications sent to bSpell, such as support requests or feedback.
• Billing and subscription information associated with a paid plan.

Payment card information is processed by Stripe. bSpell does not store complete payment card numbers.

Player Profile Information

An Account Holder may create one or more Player profiles. For each Player profile, bSpell may store:

• A Player alias or nickname.
• A difficulty level.
• A Player PIN protected using secure cryptographic methods.
• Gameplay and learning activity, such as words practiced, spelling attempts, scores, stars or other achievements, levels, streaks, accuracy, and learning progress.

bSpell does notask a Player to provide their age or date of birth. Difficulty level is used to select appropriate spelling content. It is not intended to determine or infer a Player's age.

2. Player Names

When a Player profile is created, bSpell provides a system-generated Player name by default. If an Account Holder chooses to customize the Player name, bSpell asks users not to include:

• a real first and last name;
• an email address;
• a phone number;
• a school name;
• an address; or
• other identifying information.

We encourage the use of system-generated names or non-identifying nicknames.

3. Information We Intentionally Do Not Request From Players

bSpell is designed to minimize the personal information associated with a Player profile. We do not ask Players to provide:

• Real names.
• Age.
• Date of birth.
• Email addresses.
• Phone numbers.
• Home or mailing addresses.
• School names.
• Precise geographic location.
• Photographs.
• Videos.
• Voice recordings.
• Contact lists.
• Social-media accounts.
• Government identification information.
• Biometric information.

We do not use a Player's difficulty level as a substitute for determining the Player's age.

4. Information Collected Automatically

When bSpell is used, limited technical information may be processed automatically to operate and protect the service. This may include:

• Session cookies required for authentication.
• Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
• Browser or device information contained in standard web requests.
• Request timestamps.
• Security and diagnostic information.

We may use this information to sign users in, maintain authenticated sessions, provide the service, prevent fraud and abuse, limit excessive or malicious requests, diagnose technical problems, and protect account and service security. We do not use this information for behavioral advertising or cross-site profiling.

5. How We Use Information

We use information collected through bSpell only as reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve the service. This includes:

• Creating and managing accounts.
• Creating and managing Player profiles.
• Authenticating Account Holders and Players.
• Providing spelling games and educational activities.
• Selecting spelling content based on difficulty level.
• Recording Player progress and achievements.
• Showing learning progress to the Account Holder.
• Operating game features such as rankings or leaderboards, when available.
• Processing subscriptions and payments.
• Providing customer support.
• Preventing unauthorized access and abuse.
• Maintaining and improving the reliability and security of bSpell.
• Complying with applicable legal obligations.

We do not use Player information to create advertising or marketing profiles.

6. Advertising and Tracking

bSpell does not:

• Display behavioral advertising to Players.
• Sell personal information.
• Rent personal information.
• Use personal information for cross-site behavioral advertising.
• Use advertising cookies to track Players across unrelated websites.
• Use browser fingerprinting for advertising or profiling.
• Provide Player information to data brokers.

If our practices materially change in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and obtain any consent required by applicable law before introducing the new practice.

7. Player Privacy and Younger Users

bSpell may be used by families and younger Players. The Player experience is intentionally designed to minimize collection of personal information. Players are not required to provide their real name, age or date of birth, email address, phone number, school, physical address, precise location, photograph, or voice recording.

Player profiles are created and managed through an Account Holder's account. Players do not need their own email address or independent bSpell account. Technical information necessary to operate, authenticate, secure, and protect the service may be processed as described in this Privacy Policy. We do not use such information for behavioral advertising or cross-site profiling.

If bSpell introduces a feature in the future that requires additional personal information or legally required consent, we will provide appropriate notice and obtain consent where required before collecting that information.

8. Leaderboards and Player Aliases

bSpell may offer game leaderboards or similar competitive features. When these features are available, information displayed may include a Player alias, score, ranking, and game achievements.

bSpell does not intentionally display a Player's age, email address, phone number, physical address, school, or other information that bSpell asks users not to provide. Because Player aliases may be visible to other users, Account Holders and Players should not use real names or other identifying information as Player aliases. bSpell may remove or modify aliases that appear to contain inappropriate content or personal information.

9. Payments

Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe or another payment provider identified at the time of payment. Payment providers may collect information necessary to process a transaction, including payment card information, billing information, transaction information, and fraud-prevention information.

bSpell does not store complete payment card numbers. Payment providers process information according to their own privacy policies and their agreements with bSpell. Player profiles are not used for payment processing.

10. Service Providers

We may use trusted service providers to help operate bSpell, including providers of application hosting, database hosting, infrastructure and network services, email delivery, security services, customer support, and payment processing.

These providers may receive information only as reasonably necessary to provide their services to bSpell. We do not permit service providers to use Player information for their own behavioral advertising or independent marketing purposes.

11. When We May Disclose Information

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to:

• provide bSpell through our service providers;
• comply with applicable law, regulation, court order, or lawful government request;
• investigate fraud, abuse, or security incidents;
• protect the rights, property, or safety of bSpell, our users, or others;
• enforce our Terms of Service; or
• complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to appropriate privacy protections.

We do not sell personal information.

12. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected or as required by law.

Player Information

Player profile information and gameplay history may be retained while the Player profile remains active so that bSpell can provide progress tracking and game functionality. When an Account Holder requests deletion of a Player profile, the Player profile will be made inaccessible and associated Player information will generally be deleted or de-identified from active systems within 30 days, unless a longer period is reasonably necessary for technical,security, fraud prevention, resolution of an active dispute, or compliance with law.

Account Information

Account information may be retained while an Account Holder maintains a bSpell account. When an Account Holder requests account deletion, associated personal information will generally be deleted or de-identified from active systems within 30 days, except where information must be retained for technical, legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, payment, or dispute-resolution purposes.

Billing Records

Certain transaction and billing records may be retained for the period required by applicable accounting, tax, payment, or legal obligations.

Backups

Information deleted from active systems may temporarily remain in protected backup systems and will be removed or overwritten according to our normal backup retention practices. Information retained in backups is not used for ordinary business purposes. We do not intentionally retain personal information indefinitely without a legitimate business or legal reason.

13. Account and Player Deletion

Account Holders may request deletion of an individual Player profile or their entire bSpell account.

During the beta period, deletion requests may be submitted by contacting bspellsupport@gmail.com. We may verify that the person making the request controls the relevant account before processing a deletion request. Verified deletion requests will generally be completed within 30 days, subject to the retention exceptions described in this Privacy Policy. bSpell may introduce self-service deletion controls in the future.

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These measures may include:

• secure password hashing;
• protected Player PIN storage;
• encrypted network communications;
• access controls;
• secure session management;
• protection against repeated login attempts;
• security monitoring; and
• restricted access to production systems.

No internet service or storage system can guarantee absolute security, but we work to maintain safeguards appropriate to the information we process.

15. Cookies

bSpell uses cookies and similar technologies when necessary to operate the service. For example, we may use authentication or session cookies to keep an Account Holder signed in, maintain an authenticated session, and protect account security. We do not use advertising cookies to track Players across unrelated websites.

16. Your Privacy Choices

Account Holders may:

• review information associated with their account;
• update or correct account information;
• review Player profiles;
• change a Player alias;
• change a Player difficulty level;
• delete a Player profile;
• request a copy of certain personal information; or
• request deletion of their bSpell account.

Depending on where you live, applicable privacy laws may provide additional rights relating to personal information. To make a privacy request, contact us using the information below.

17. No Sale of Personal Information

bSpell does not sell personal information. bSpell does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share Player information for advertising purposes.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as bSpell evolves or as legal requirements change. If we make a material change to how we collect, use, or disclose personal information, we will provide reasonable notice, such as through bSpell or by email to Account Holders. Where applicable law requires consent before a new use of information, we will obtain that consent before implementing the new use. The effective date at the top of this Privacy Policy indicates when the current version became effective.
